Grill Reviews with Seijin: EMJ’s Resident Grillmaster

At work, Seijin Thompson keeps the gears turning as our Order Management Specialist. But when it comes to lunchtime at the office? He’s flipping more than just spreadsheets.
From perfectly seared ribeyes to juicy smashburgers (and veggie patties that you could swear taste like the real thing), Seijin keeps tongues wagging at the Every Man Jack office.
We spent an afternoon with him out on the deck to talk shop, swap recipes, and sample some of the best grilled chicken we’ve ever had. Here’s what he had to say about the most popular grills on the market.
Seijin’s Hot Grill Takes
🥩 The Classic Grill
“Reliable, straightforward, gets the job done. Perfect for burgers, dogs, and purists who like their heat direct and their meat simple.”
🍳 The Blackstone
“Flat top magic. Smashburgers, fajitas, bacon, you name it. It’s like having a greasy spoon diner in your backyard.”
🔥 The Traeger
“Set it, forget it, and still look like a pro. Great for smoking meats low and slow with that signature wood-fired flavor.”
🥚 The Big Green Egg:
“A cult favorite for a reason. It’s part grill, part oven, part smoker, part conversation starter. Takes time to master. But when you do? The Egg is almost unbeatable.”
Grill Fit for the Occasion

While every grill has its place, Seijin says it all comes down to time, space, and what you're cooking for.
For big groups and tight schedules?
“The Blackstone and a classic propane grill are hard to beat,” he says. “They heat up fast, clean up easy, and offer plenty of surface area for feeding a crowd.”
Got time to go slow?
“If you’ve got the room and the patience, that’s when the charcoal grill, Traeger, or Big Green Egg come into play. You’ll get that smoky bark, the iconic smoke ring, and deep flavor you just can’t rush.”
Wash Out the Smoke
After a long day tending the flames, Seijin swears by our Sandalwood Body Wash. Not only will it rinse off the smoke and grease, it’ll have you smelling forest fresh all day.
Because the only thing better than smelling like BBQ all day… is not smelling like BBQ the next morning.
