Skincare Tips for Summer

by Jeffery Racheff

Let’s hear a round of applause for your skin. It makes up 15% of your total body weight, contains over 11 miles of blood vessels, and completely renews itself every 28 days. Most importantly though, it protects your insides from the elements.

This summer, keep your epidermis epic – and maintain skin that’s healthy, hydrated, and looking good – by following these simple tips for self-care.

Wear SPF …

Not just once in a while, not just during beach days – wear it year round. Sunrays can still impact your skin even if there are clouds. Stay vigilant.

Wearing a quality SPF on your face (especially in the summer) can prevent sun damage, helping to keep your complexion clear and even.

    … And Reapply it Regularly

Apply sunblock about 15 minutes before stepping outside. This gives the tiny SPF warriors enough time to soak in and set up for battle against the forces of light.

Reapply every 2 hours. If you’re participating in activities like swimming or sweating, apply it even more frequently.

Now if only there was an SPF Mineral Face Lotion that worked perfectly to protect your skin from the sun’s harmful rays…

      Throw Some Shade

There’s only one surefire way to prevent UV damage, sunburns, and farmer’s tans: stay out of the sun altogether.

Of course, not all of us can live in the basement forever, and some of us actually dig farmer’s tans THANKYOUVERYMUCH. When you do get outside, seek some shade or find a killer hat to live under.

      Moisturize After Sun

Remember the three Ms of post-sun skin care: Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize. The sun has drying effects, so moisturizer is essential after sun exposure.

After a long day outside, use our Skin Revive Face Lotion to revive your skin with deep hydration.

        Ditch the Sweaty Clothes

Heat = sweat = dirty pores. Staying in sweaty clothes for too long can promote acne, so be sure to shower well, put on a fresh change of clothes, and use body lotion.

          Repair Skin After Damage

Sun got you crispier than a forgotten french fry? Take care of your skin after a sunburn by using aloe and moisturizer.

Aloe, coconut oil, cocoa butter, and vitamin E are essential ingredients. Find them all in our Hand + Body Lotion, designed to help soothe dry and damaged skin after sun exposure.

What to Look For in a Mineral Sunscreen

Now that you’ve mastered the art of skinduction, you should probably consider what actually goes into a great sunscreen. Here’s how to choose the right one.

            Naturally Derived

Using clean, naturally derived ingredients like shea butter and hyaluronic acid – all found in our SPF Mineral Face Lotion – ensures a healthy skin barrier that seals in moisture.

              Mineral Based

Avoid harsh chemicals and instead use a mineral-based sunscreen with an active ingredient like Zinc Oxide.

Mineral-based sunscreens are also the best option when using in and around the ocean, to help keep fragile ecosystems healthy.

Every Man Jack mineral face lotion has 30 SPF, is non-greasy, and has broad spectrum protection leaving no white streaks. Get it here.
